Hi Everyone,
It’s been a good while since our last update and we’ve been hard at work getting a number of wins and we have a few updates for you!
New Team Member
We are happy to welcome Eoin on board as a new addition to the team! We’ve recruited Eoin as our Game Artist and he has been given the task of designing the artwork for our Pip games. Eoin joins the Galvanic team with over 15 years experience as a 2D/3D artist. Welcome Eoin!
Assembling and testing iOS compatible Prototypes
In the last couple of weeks the new batteries and circuit boards for the latest prototype Pips have arrived and we are now currently in the process of testing and assembling a number of iOS compatible Pips to pair and test with Apple’s iOS. This will allow us to configure and test iOS compatible versions of Relax & Race, The Loom and Lie Detective.
Pre-ordering System
At this moment we are working on a pre-ordering system for anyone who might have missed out on getting their hands on a Pip via our Kickstarter pledges. If you are someone who is interested in knowing when our pre-ordering system is up and running, send an email to hello@galvanic.ie to be notified as soon as it is available.
Thanks again to everyone for your wonderful support,
The Galvanic Team.
We’ve made it and boy are we happy about it. We would really like to thank all our Kickstarter backers for all the support both in pledges and feedback. Not only did we reach our funding target but we also learned so much from you all. There is still about 15 hours to go (not that we were cutting it close or anything) so if anyone knows people out there who might be interested in the Pip, let them know before it’s too late.
We’ll be in contact early next week with all our backers about surveys and and the details of what happens next. In the mean time, the sun is actually shining in Ireland (a fairly rare event) so I think we’re all going to go check that out
Again, Thank you all so much.
Galvanic Team.
Happy Friday! The Pip’s have arrived safely at Moscow and are available to the public to try out and play the Relax and Race Game. We’re delighted to hear of the fantastic response the Pips have received. The Pips are on display as part of the Trinity Science Gallery Exhibition: GAME held in the Polytechnical Museum in Moscow, which has been running since the start of the month.
We’re more than 50% of the way there but we’re getting close to the final week. We need everyone to email, tweet, facebook or even bebo or myspace (if you are so inclined) the Pip to the far corners of the globe! We really believe the potential for the Pip is huge, especially given the feedback from our backers, so please help us to get the message out there and get it over the line.
We’ve also had a lot of interest from research groups looking to do work with the Pip so we’ve added a new pledge. If you are looking to setup a project that uses Pips to help better people lives or would just like a convenient way to measure GSR this is the pledge for you. With this pledge, we’re going to try to get you your Pips early, if we can, and we’ll also provide you early access to the SDK and a little consultation from us to ensure you get off the ground.
Finally, We’ve been playing around in the office with some new finishes for the Pip plastics. These are merely one off tests and may never see the light of day but we thought you all might like to see them.
Firstly, we’d like to wish all our American backers and friends a very happy (and slightly early) 4th of July. We’ve passed the 40% mark in the last few days which makes us really happy but we want to keep the momentum up so be sure to tell all your friends and relatives about us.
We have some great news for all you quantified selfers out there. From day one, all the games are going to include the ability to record your activity as well as monitor and chart your performance over time. Over time you’ll also be able to export your performance data and share key performance indicators with your social networks.
We will also be creating a standalone quantified self app for real-time monitoring of your stress levels. The app will allow you to record and review key performance statistics and charts. This app will be free of charge to everyone.
Hi Everyone,
Hope you’re all having a good Friday! Just a quick update before the weekend. We have some news from Mark Matthews of the Interaction Design Lab at Cornell University. You might remember from the video Mark and his team are currently doing some exciting work using the Pip on Moodlight, the light that knows how you feel.
More from Mark Matthews…
“We are kicking off our MoodLight study today at the Interaction Design Lab at Cornell. Phase 1 will involve testing with 30 Cornell students. All going well, we will follow up in the Fall semester by testing the system clinically as a relaxation aid.
Our primary goal is to investigate whether MoodLight, an ambient lighting relaxation system can:
1) provide more immediate and affective feedback to help people relax,
2) does it help people share how they are feeling with loved ones.”
We wish them all the best in their studies and hope they get some interesting results.
Thanks,
from all the Galvanic Team
