New Year, New-Look Apps

by Marie Clarkeon 21 January 2015in Uncategorized

We’re really excited to start the New Year with a new-look for our Apps.  The latest version of the Apps include a new home screen and  Pip set-up process. We’ve also added more statistics and measurements. These new tools will make it easier to track and compare progress over time.

New Statistics and Measurements

Events – During a session our proprietary algorithm analyses the electrodermal activity (EDA) detected by the Pip. This generates three types of events - ‘Stress Events’, ‘Relax Events’ and ‘Steady Events’.

‘Stress Events’ represent the detection of a short term peak in EDA

‘Relax Events’ represent a slightly longer term reduction in activity

‘Steady events’ indicate that you are neither stressing nor relaxing

No single event can give an overall view of your stress level. However comparing the type and number of events during a session and monitoring progress over multiple sessions is an indicator of your stress performance.

Pip Score - this is an all-encompassing measurement of your session performance. Our proprietary algorithm detects the type and number of events (stress, relaxed or steady) and session length, to calculate the ‘Pip Score’.

What do I have to do?

The new-look Relax & Race and The Loom are available to download now for iOS and Android. Stress Tracker will be available in the coming weeks.

Busy, Busy

by Scott Ingramon 22 November 2013in Uncategorized

Hey everyone,

A number of big updates coming down the line, but we hope you like what we have so far!

Hardware Update

So, over the past months, we have been tweaking away at our designs for the electronics, discs and plastics. As of last week, we have locked down and finalized the designs of these components and we are now in the final phase of getting the manufacturing process nailed down.

Below is a picture of the final batch of pre-production prototypes, ready for testing and further development.

Software Update

So as you know we’ve been busy and redesigned the Pip’s hardware to be able to communicate with both Android and iOS devices. Accompanying that completed task, we have also developed the Relax & Race and The Loom applications to run on both operating systems and are now in the process of redesigning the game’s game-play, look and layout/navigation. Some pictures of Relax & Race’s new look below.

Quantified Self App

As previously promised in update #6, we are currently undertaking the task of designing, the “Quantified Self App” and in app recording ability to be included with  the Pip. This app will allow you to record and review key performance statistics and charts to monitor and chart your performance over time. We are in the process of deciding the key statistics to be included, how they will be ultimately conveyed and the application’s look and layout. We’re interested to hear how you guys think it should look, so let us know!

New Team Member

We are happy to announce our latest team addition, welcome Dina! Dina joins us, having been a game developer for the past 11 years and is taking on the role of Mobile Game Developer. She has participated in the creation of several PC games and in the last couple of years she has developed multiple games and applications for mobile devices.

That’s all for now and once again thank you to all our backers,

Cornell Testing Moodlight

by Marie Clarkeon 28 June 2013in Kickstarter, Uncategorized

Hi Everyone,

Hope you’re all having a good Friday! Just a quick update before the weekend. We have some news from Mark Matthews of the Interaction Design Lab at Cornell University. You might remember from the video Mark and his team are currently doing some exciting work using the Pip on Moodlight, the light that knows how you feel.

More from Mark Matthews…

“We are kicking off our MoodLight study today at the Interaction Design Lab at Cornell. Phase 1 will involve testing with 30 Cornell students. All going well, we will follow up in the Fall semester by testing the system clinically as a relaxation aid.

Our primary goal is to investigate whether MoodLight, an ambient lighting relaxation system can:

1) provide more immediate and affective feedback to help people relax,
2) does it help people share how they are feeling with loved ones.”

We wish them all the best in their studies and hope they get some interesting results.

Thanks,

from all the Galvanic Team
